These muffins are full of nooks and crannies just waiting to soak in butter or homemade jelly. They are made with sourdough starter I've had going since December 2018, which gives them that slightly sour tang without being overwhelming. Since these are made from scratch in my kitchen, each one may be a little different - not like the mass-produced ones you would buy in a grocery store.

First introduced in his catalog in 1893 seedsman James Thorburn of New York was so enamored with this tomato that he featured it as a chromolithograph on the cover. It is a is a unique honey brown color on the outside, orange-pink flesh on the inside and vibrant green seeds. This tomato produces heavily during early and mid-season then tapers off rapidly. Plant is classified as a semi-determinate (hence its production style), but we found it definitely requires staking or cages.

Also known as Pepa de Zappalo, this heirloom bean originates from Chile and Argentina. Known for their beautiful unique mottled patterns, and rich burgundy swirls, these beans also make a wonderful dry shelled bean. Tiger's Eye Beans have a creamy, potato-like texture when cooked and their tender thin skin nearly dissolves in cooking. They make a thick broth from the water they've been simmered in, which can be saved for stock in vegetarian stews. Tiger Eye beans are an excellent choice for thickening chilis or using in purees, bean dips and refried beans. While classified as a bush bean, we've found these beans are best grown on a short trellis.

This delightful yellow cherry tomato has been grown by our family for nearly 3 decades. We discovered this tomato volunteering at our farm (Dandelion Farm) in Cambridge Wisconsin. We liked it so much that we saved seeds and have been growing it ever since. We even had an extended period where we thought we had lost the seed, only to find some stashed away several years later. This resilient little gem managed to germinate and we have been very careful saving it every since. Tomatoes tend to be oblong and are very prolific. They are the yellow cherries in the photo.
