Southern Wilted Lettuce Recipe with Hot Bacon Dressing

If your family has Southern roots, this dish was probably a staple on your grandmother’s table. But a search on the internet also mentions the dish may have originated with German immigrants or even with Italian cooks. Whatever the beginning, this combination of fresh greens and bacon grease is delicious. Don’t let the words “bacon grease” scare you away – a serving of this salad has only 32 calories!
