The Market is Open!
Foothills Market is open for the week!
Last week, we said we would be setting up an online payment option. However, in investigating our options, we found that the cost was going to be (in our opinion) too high. Fees charged by the online payment service companies would make it so we would need to add a convenience fee to each online payment. That fee would need to be at least 8% and could possibly be as high as 10% (because the service companies charge a percentage of the sale plus a flat 30-cent fee), and we just don’t feel good about adding that to your cost. So we are abandoning the idea of online payment for the time being.
Instead, we are asking you to pay for your orders with checks, if possible. That will help make the transaction work more quickly (no need to make change), which will help avoid a backlog when several people are waiting to pick up their orders. If you need to use cash, please bring exact change. If you don’t have exact change, we’ll credit the overpaid amount to your account here on Foothills Market so it can go to pay toward your next order.
When using a check, please make it payable to Jeff Marlow, since he’s the market treasurer and the bank won’t accept checks with a different name. Don’t be afraid that your farmer isn’t getting paid; Jeff gives each farmer a check when they drop off their items before the pick-up time for customers.
Browse the market and place your order between now and Wednesday at 5 p.m. Be sure to click the “Place your order” button. We’ll have your order ready for pickup between 4:30-5:30 on Thursday.
Remember to check back during the week since some farmers may update their listings after the market opens on Sunday.
Eat something fresh this week!
