The Market is Open!

This week on Foothills Market, we’re going to celebrate the humble salad. While the stereotype is “rabbit food,” salads have several benefits for adding to your menu plan: 1) they are good for you, with vitamins and fiber; 2) they can have a lot of variety, depending on what you put in; 3) they are quick and easy to make.

The market features several items that can form the base of your salad, whether it’s a side item or the main dish. We have salad mixes with a variety of lettuces, including red and green romaine. If you want to add other greens, how about some spinach or watercress or maybe some kale or Swiss chard? Dress up that salad with celery, radishes, a boiled egg or mushrooms. Add a little sour-sweet element with some Bread and Butter pickles. Add a side of a bagel and cream cheese or maybe a nice chunk of focaccia, and you have a meal! And since your salad was low-calorie, maybe you can treat yourself to a brownie or cookie for dessert!

Shop the market between now and 5:00 p.m. Wednesday. We’ll have your order ready for pickup on Thursday – just in time to make that salad for supper!
