The Market is Open!

It’s back! Some of you have been asking when lamb will make a return to Foothills Market, and we’re glad to report Sheepy Hollow received a shipment from the butcher last week. You’ll be able to choose from several different cuts, including the very popular ground lamb.

Happy Horseshoe Farm also picked up a new batch of beef from the butcher this week, so we also have new listings of steaks, roasts, and ground beef available. That’s in addition to the regular offerings of fresh produce.

Browse the market, pick out your items, and click the button to place your order. Be sure to check the market on Monday or Tuesday also, because most of our growers are also selling on other markets and will adjust their offerings as they see what they have available.

Remember that we will be doing pickup on Thursday afternoons from 4:30-5:30 on the west side of the courthouse square in downtown Clarksville so we can all practice good social distancing.

Eat something fresh this week!

Market Reminder

I made a mistake in the previous message on Sunday. Order pickup will still be on Thursday – it is not changing to Friday. (Sorry about that – don’t know what I was thinking….) We have extended our hours to 4:30-5:30 p.m. to allow for good social distancing practices.Pick-up will be at the west side of the courthouse square in downtown Clarksville.

Ordering on Foothills Market is open until 5:00 p.m. this afternoon, if you are still looking for some menu items. Place your order and we’ll have it ready for pickup tomorrow between 4:30-5:30 p.m. See you then!

Foothills Market is (Still) Open!

Wow – how much has changed in a week! With social distancing and depleted grocery store shelves, we’re all more aware of our personal food supply. Foothills Market is still open, although we are making some changes to our pick-up process to comply with the procedures recommended by the CDC.
Beginning this week, we will be having pick-up on the west side of the courthouse square in downtown Clarksville. Having an open-air market will allow people to keep the six-foot spacing the CDC recommends. We will also be extending the pick-up time to be from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Friday, giving people a better chance to spread out their pick-ups.
We still have plenty of beef on the market, although quantities of eggs and produce are limited (especially since the Food for Thought Garden, as part of the University campus, is closed). Be sure to check our listings on Mondays; some of our growers sell on other markets and will be updating their listings to adjust for sales on those markets.
We are still committed to providing you with high-quality, locally-grown food. Stay well, and eat something fresh this week!

Market Reminder

There’s still some time to get your local foods on Foothills Market. Place your order by 5:00, and we will have it ready for pickup at the Food for Thought Garden tomorrow afternoon between 5-5:30.

The Market is Open!

Foothills Market is open this week, but we are monitoring the situation and may need to make some adjustments later in the week. Since the university is closing campus at the end of this week, we will need to find a new location for pick-up of your orders. At this point, we will have this week’s pick-up still at the Food for Thought Garden house, but keep an eye out for a message if things change.

We still have fresh greens on the market, along with plenty of beef. Place your order between now and Wednesday at 5 p.m., and we’ll have it ready for pick-up on Thursday between 5-5:30 p.m.

Eat something fresh this week, and wash your hands!

Meet Your Farmer

This week we will feature another of the growers on our market, Sheepy Hollow Farm. David Cooper and Kim Van Scoy have been farming near Clarksville since 2009. They raise a variety of vegetables and fruit as well as limited numbers of livestock, including lambs, pigs, Dexter cattle, poultry and fowl. Sheepy Hollow is a great example of a farm using sustainable, organic practices to cultivate diversity and care for the land.

Some of the items that make Sheepy Hollow unique on our market are their offerings of lamb. Although there isn’t a lot of lamb on the market at this time, that ought to change in the future. Kim reported that a new season of lambing is in full swing at the farm, with 20 new lambs so far and 35 ewes still to lamb. That’s a lot of babies – and sleep deprivation!

Check out the offerings from Sheepy Hollow and our other growers on the market. Make your selections between now and Wednesday at 5 p.m., and we’ll have your order ready for pickup from 5-5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
