Looking for something a little different to add to your menu? One of our Foothills Market growers has added globe artichokes to the market, just in time for our market deadline of 5:00 this afternoon. Of course, we also have plenty of your summer favorites like green beans, yellow squash, and cucumbers. Place your order by 5, and we’ll have it ready for pickup tomorrow.

Last summer, my farmer and I took a trip to Ireland and Scotland, where we encountered “Neeps and Tatties” (turnips and potatoes). Rather than being the white turnips I knew from home, the neeps were a soft gold color. This put me on a search for golden turnips, and this week, Foothills Market has the results of that search available on the market.

You can also pick up some fresh tatties, either white or red. In Scotland, the vegetables were paired with haggis, but I don’t think anyone will mind if you were to pair your neeps and tatties with a cut of beef from the market! Make your selections between now and Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., and we’ll have your order ready for pickup on Thursday.

The growing season is beginning to shift, and you can see that here on Foothills Market. We still have some of the spring greens, but now our growers are starting to have some late spring/early summer vegetables, such as beets, new potatoes, turnips, and even limited amounts of yellow squash and cucumbers. We also have some new offerings in the baked goods section of the market – cinnamon rolls and pecan pie muffins. Doesn’t that sound delicious?
