The Market is Open - February 12

Foothills Market is open for another week’s shopping!

Later today, I’ll post a couple of recipes that feature some of our items this week, including a frittata that you can make with eggs from Sheepy Hollow Farm and kale or baby collards from the Food for Thought Garden. I also have a good recipe for turnips, if you’d like to pick up some from Happy Horseshoe Farm. That turnip recipe would be a great side dish to go with some pork chops, steak, or lamb several growers are offering on the market.

Browse the market, fill your cart, then click the “Place Your Order” button. We’ll have your order ready for pickup Friday afternoon between 4-6 at the Food for Thought Garden house, 815 N. Hillcrest in Clarksville.

A Market Reminder - A Little Late

Our market manager was having some internet issues, so the weekly reminder is a little late today. As a result, we’re going to keep the market open until 5:00 to allow everyone a little more time for shopping. Sheepy Hollow Farm said they still have some eggs, if you’re looking for good, farm-fresh ones.

The Market is Open - February 5

Our feature this week on Foothills Market is our selection of meats. We have a wide variety of cuts of beef, lamb, and pork, ranging from bratwurst to leg of lamb to t-bone steaks and more.

When you buy meat from Foothills Market, you know the animals did not spend any time in a factory-style feedlot. These animals were on the farm until taken for processing. Most of the meat was prepared at Advanced Meat Processing in Van Buren, which focuses on humane treatment of animals. AMP also has a USDA inspector on site, so you know your meats are up to the same standards (or better) at larger facilities.

We also have limited quantities of fresh vegetables, including some baby collards and kale from the Food for Thought Garden and some celery stalks grown in the new aquaponics house at Happy Horseshoe Farm.

Shop the market, place items in your cart, and hit the “Place your order” button. We’ll gather your items and have them ready for pickup Friday afternoon between 4-6 at the Food for Thought Garden house, 815 N. Hillcrest.

Looks like we’re in for another really cold week of winter. But Foothills Market has limited amounts of some fresh vegetables despite the freezing weather. Happy Horseshoe Farm is offering Brussels sprouts as well as the first harvest from the new aquaponics growhouse – celery stalks.

We also have a good selection of locally-grown meats, as well as several sweets. Treat yourself to some candy, spread some jelly on a slice of toast, or munch on a fresh blueberry muffin to take your mind off the cold!

The market will be open for orders until Thursday at noon. Browse our offerings, fill your cart, then press the “Place Your Order” button. We’ll have your order ready for pickup between 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Food for Thought Garden house at 815 N. Hillcrest in Clarksville.
