The Market Is Open!


Foothills Market is open with a selection of fresh lamb from Sheepy Hollow Farm. We’re offering a variety of cuts you can’t get in a grocery store around here, from ground lamb, to rib chops, to leg of lamb roasts. Of course, we also have beef and pork, as well.

Our vegetable offerings are limited as we enter into late winter, but remember that growers may update quantities midweek as they are available. We still have baked treats and candy, as well as fresh eggs from free-range hens. Shop the market between now and Wednesday at 5 p.m. Click the button to place your order, and we’ll have it ready for pickup on Thursday.

Let’s talk pot roast! It’s another cold week, and while we do have some fresh vegetables on Foothills Market, it’s not exactly ideal growing weather for vegetables.But wouldn’t a nice beef or pork roast taste good on a cold day? Whether you put it in the slow cooker or roast in the oven to also gain some heat in your kitchen, roast could give you a hearty supper. Serve some spinach, Brussels sprouts, or a rutabaga puree alongside – all of it from farmers in your local area.

Check out the market for the selection of roasts and other cuts of beef or pork – or maybe you’d like to try a leg of lamb! Check out the recipe section of this site for a recipe for Leg of Lamb with Mustard sauce, posted by David Cooper of Sheepy Hollow Farm.

Winter is a challenging time for farmers on Foothills Market. The cold and the wet are not ideal growing conditions, even for winter-hardy plants. Sometimes, a sudden dip below freezing can decimate a crop you thought was safe inside a tunnel house, as with the cauliflower at the Food for Thought Garden.

That’s all to say our vegetable offerings are slim this week – but we still have plenty of beef and pork that you can trust to have been ethically and sustainably grown and harvested. We also have a selection of baked goods that feature crops like pumpkin and zucchini that grew and were frozen last summer when the weather was sunny and hot!

Keep an eye on the market this week, since our growers will probably update their listings as they see how plants are reacting to the weather. Choose the items you want between now and Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., and click the button to place your order. We’ll have the items ready for pickup on Thursday afternoon between 4:30-5:30.

With the public schools starting back tomorrow, I guess we can consider the holiday season officially over. We at Foothills Market hope your new year is off to a good start.

On the market this week, we have several varieties of fresh greens as well as some of the cold-hardy cabbage family items. And of course, we have our regular offerings of beef, pork, and lamb to be the foundation for these winter meals.

The market will be open between now and 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shop as much as you like, place items in your cart, and then click the “place your order” button when you’re ready to checkout. We’ll get your order together and have it ready for pick-up on Thursday afternoon from 4:30-5:30.
