The Market is Open - November 27

We at Foothills Market hope everyone had a restful and joyous Thanksgiving!

The Foothills Market is open again this week with a variety of vegetables and other products. Whether you’re looking for something fresh to put on your own table or a gift to give to family or friends, you may find just what you want in our market this week.

The shopping window is open until Thursday at noon. Browse the products on the market, fill your cart with goodies, then click the “place your order” button to finalize the order. We will send an invoice for the order along with a reminder on Friday morning. You will then pick up your order between 4-6 p.m. on Friday at the Food for Thought Garden, 815 N. Hillcrest.

Almost Closing Time

The Foothills Market will be closing at noon today. Remember the market won’t be open next week, so don’t miss your chance to pick up something fresh and local for Thanksgiving dinner!

The Market is Open - November 13

Good morning! The Foothills Market is open for this week.

Looking for a break from the traditional turkey dinner for Thanksgiving next week? How about a leg of lamb or a local ham? Sheepy Hollow Farm has a variety of locally-grown and processed meat available on the market, and Kim said she has an awesome leg of lamb recipe she’ll post in the Recipes section of the site.

We also have fresh, local vegetables for sides. Happy Horseshoe Farm has fresh broccoli, as well as rutabagas, which make a great puree that is a lower-carb replacement for mashed potatoes. The market also offers a variety of jams, jellies, and baked goods, including a couple of small goodies made from heirloom pumpkins to satisfy your sweet tooth while still offering some nutritional benefits.

Browse our offerings on the Market page between now and noon on Thursday. To place your order, simply add any items you would like to your cart, then click the “Place my order” button. You can then pick up your order between 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17.

Note that the market will take a break next week for Thanksgiving.

We’re looking for both new customers and new growers interested in keeping local access to fresh produce available now that the in-person farmers’ market has closed for the season. We’d appreciate your telling your friends and neighbors about Foothills Market. Word of mouth – or word of mouse! – is the best way to spread the word.

Happy shopping! Eat something fresh this week!

Take 2 - The Market is Open (Again)

Sorry for any confusion about the previous message – I was trying to send it out quickly before going to a meeting, and I neglected to include a link to the website.

You can access the market at Foothillsmarket.locallygrown.net.

Thank you for your patience! I’m a little rusty….

The Market is Open (Again!) - October 30

Foothills Market is back online following the close of the season for the Johnson County Community Farmers’ Market last weekend. Our new ordering window is from Monday-Thursday at noon, with pickup from 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Food for Thought Garden at the University of the Ozarks (815 N. Hillcrest). We have expanded offerings with new growers, so check out the list for fresh, local food to go on your grocery list this week.

Eggs Galore!

Our hens and ducks have been producing eggs at a steady rate. Over time, those eggs really add up, and our refrigerator overfloweth! So we’re having a clearance eggs-travaganza! (sorry….)

We have 16 dozen brown eggs from free-range hens and 10 dozen duck eggs from free-range ducks. If you’ve never tried duck eggs, let me tell you they are FABULOUS for baking.

We also have a variety of jams leftover from the summer season, mainly (no surprise) blueberry of one form or another. Most of these are prepared with lower sugar, so they might make a great Christmas gift for someone who would like a sweet treat but doesn’t need added sugar.

I also have some oregano, parsley, sage, and mint that you can use fresh or dry in the oven for use this winter.

We’re not going to the farmer’s market since the major garden season is over, so if you place an order, we’ll contact you about delivery. You can place your order on the website any time this week; we’ll keep an eye out for your.

A Golden Surprise!

Walking through the garden the other day, we discovered the rain helped the yellow Monte Gusto beans put on another crop. These beans are as long and nice as the ones we were getting from the plants earlier in the season.

We also have okra available, as well as a few “personal size” eggplants and some nice herbs that could be used fresh or dried for later.

There are also plenty of eggs, both duck eggs and chicken eggs. I believe we have five dozen of each in the farm refrigerator.

We probably won’t be at the farmers’ market this weekend, so if you want to place an order, we’ll contact you to make arrangements for delivery. Because we aren’t trying to meet the time frame of the downtown market, you can place your order on the website at any time this week.

Okra, Anyone?

Again this week, we don’t have enough to have the full market open. However, we do have two products to offer. There’s plenty of okra, and we also have a limited number of chicken and duck eggs. If you would like to order, please contact us at happyhorseshoefarm@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you. We won’t be at the Clarksville farmers’ market this weekend, but we’ll make other arrangements to get your order to you.
