Also known as Pepa de Zappalo, this heirloom bean originates from Chile and Argentina. Known for their beautiful unique mottled patterns, and rich burgundy swirls, these beans also make a wonderful dry shelled bean. Tiger's Eye Beans have a creamy, potato-like texture when cooked and their tender thin skin nearly dissolves in cooking. They make a thick broth from the water they've been simmered in, which can be saved for stock in vegetarian stews. Tiger Eye beans are an excellent choice for thickening chilis or using in purees, bean dips and refried beans. While classified as a bush bean, we've found these beans are best grown on a short trellis.

Semi-determinate tomato with incredible flavor, color and history! Introduced in 1893 by well known seedsman James Thorburn of New York. He was so enamored with this tomato it was featured in a chromolithograph at the front of his 1893 catalog. The terra cotta colored skin, orange-pink flesh, and green seed mass, has an earthy beauty not seen in many tomatoes. The tomato produces heavily during early and mid-season and then drops off quickly. This is a rare heirloom you will want to try.
